It's a GIRL!!

We were able to find out that Lilah was a girl at week 15. It was of course a very exciting moment for us. We invited both of our moms to be there for the ultrasound. Looking back, I wouldn’t of had it any other way! Hearing their giggles of joy as “it’s a girl” was announced is a memory I will carry with me forever. Eric was recording the ultrasound as the tech announced her gender to us, and it was fun to watch after and to be able to share with family members as well. We are looking forward to sharing this video with Lilah one day too! As a mommy-to-be your whole impression of being pregnant, and being a mom, changes once you know that you are about to be a mom to a girl. I was already dreaming of the special mother daughter moments we were soon to share with each other. I have such an amazing relationship with my mom and I am so looking forward to that same type of relationship with Lilah! Since Eric was convinced we were having a girl form the start, he was elated! I totally thought we were having a boy! Haha!!

This is our “It’s a GIRL!” ultrasound video

Crazy little side note: the ultrasound place was playing music while we were getting the ultrasound done. Well Lilah was quite the mover during the ultrasound and it took what felt like forever to get a decent peak at her "parts" to confirm gender... as soon as the ultrasound tech was finally able to confirm gender and announce it, the song we danced to at our wedding for our first dance came on! It was so awesome! ...a little too ironic! ;) you can hear it in the video, the song is Jack Johnson "Angel". Love it!

My letter to our Lilah to-be

A little over a year ago we had found out that we were expecting our soon to-be Lilah. We were just over the moon with excitement! After a couple months of failed attempts of getting pregnant I was feeling a bit defeated by the time we got that positive result... Looking back now, it really wasn't that long of wait, but when you're so excited about something and it doesn't happen right away, you can't help but to be disappointed. If you know me well, you know, I'm quite the planner and very much so Type A! So I was being the typical me... impatient! HaHa! The day after I found out I was pregnant, I decided to write a letter to our baby. I went back to read it just the other day for the first time since the day I wrote it. It was such a special moment and feeling when I found out I was finally going to be a MOM!! :)

Dear Baby Howell,

Today was the day I was going to take a test to see if I was pregnant with you, however, I simply could not wait one more day and took it yesterday! As I was rushing around getting ready in the early morning for work, I took the test and walked away to get some things ready. When I came back just minutes later, I felt my heart racing as I discovered that thin faint pink line appearing. I thought I could have been imagining it, and it was yet another disappointing false alarm. So this time, I convinced myself it was just too soon to be certain, and that little pink line wasn’t as bold as my weary conscious needed it to be. So I went to work, bringing that pregnancy test along with me, and continued to pull it in and out of my bag to observe in disbelief. But, there was no denying it this time because that pink line was more and more visible as the day went on. On my way home from work I decided to stop by the drug store and buy another type of pregnancy test… just to confirm. I rushed home and took it in minutes. My whole world changed as I cautiously leaned over the counter and saw what the results were on my new digital pregnancy test, the simple little word “Yes+” was lit up though that tiny window! I stood there in shock and said a thankful prayer for the amazing miracle you are! A million things ran though my mind as I realized my dreams and prayers for you have finally come true! What a true blessing it is to be your mommy!

So today, I am overly anxious to announce to your Dad that he will indeed be one soon! I plan on surprising him when he gets home from work by decorating the whole house in baby gear, balloons and a “Welcome home Daddy to-be” sign on the front door. He will be so excited to know about you! You are already loved so much there couldn’t possibly be words to explain it to you!

Love your proud and excited Mommy!
